Main Mission:

African Rescue Committee – Somalia (AFREC) was established and registered formally in Kismayo, Lower Jubba region in July 1992. The founders sought to respond to increased suffering, starvation and deaths among communities badly affected by the double tragedy of war and famine in Somalia. The organization is also registered in Nairobi.

Agency Program Plans For 2009:

-Rehabilitate Badade and Dobley boreholes and install water supply infrastructure in the two areas
-Restore crop production for 5,000 farmers in Lower and Middle Juba regions
-Improve access to safe water by rehabilitating and constructing 70 water sources
-Screen and nutritionally rehabilitate 800 malnourished children
-Immunize 3,000 children against six EPI diseases
-Mainstream SGBV in livelihood and primary health care activities
